The legislator whose family paid $10,000 for a Ten Commandments monument to be placed at the state Capitol has ordered a new one after someone drove a car across the statehouse lawn and destroyed the existing monument.

State Rep. Mike Ritze of Broken Arrow says he has ordered an identical Ten Commandments monument that is under construction. The original monument was made completely out of granite and stood 6 feet tall.  It was placed on the north side of the state Capitol back in 2012.  The new monument, like the old one, will be built entirely with private money. They have started a fundraiser as well to help with the costs.
